Aromatherapy 101

aromatherapy

Defined as the inhalation or application of fragrant essential oils to the body for therapeutic purposes. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit and is known to enhance both physical and emotional health.

Humans have been using aromatherapy for thousands of years. Ancient cultures including China, Egypt, and India incorporated aromatics for both medical and religious purposes. Even with this long history of use, aromatherapy has been considered more of an art than a science.

A return to holistic healing practices and recent studies have helped gain recognition from the medical and science fields.  Aromatherapy works through the sense of smell and skin absorption using products such as:

  • diffusers
  • aromatic spritzers
  • inhalers
  • bathing salts
  • body oils, lotions, and other topicals
  • facial steamers
  • compresses
  • clay masks

My favorite way to enjoy essential oils is to diffuse them. A few drops of essential oil in an ultrasonic diffuser and I've got hours of effortless aromatherapy. I like Lemongrass in the morning to get energized and usually switch to Happy Hippy later in the day when I'm winding it down.

Ultrasonic diffusers make a beautiful and functional addition to your home, office, or spa. The ultrasonic vibrations turn the water into a superfine mist that makes it easy to add the benefits of aromatherapy to your life.

We currently carry two models, glass and wood tone. Both are whisper-quiet, large capacity, and feature automatic shut-off.  Now offering a complimentary bottle of 100% essential oil with every purchase while supplies last. Select your favorite scent profile and let the aromatherapy begin!
